Day 8: Monday 25th March pray for Ministry to the elderly and carers

Picture
Just as our children and youth are awesome. The members of our church family of a slightly older disposition are amazing as well.

In families there are babies, young children, brothers, sisters, cousins, parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents!!!A healthy church family should mirror this.

All the generations have so much to teach and so much to offer each other!!! There is so much wisdom, faith, experience and a witnessing of what God has done through their life in our older members of our church. It is wonderful!!!

Children, young people, young adults, and the rest of the church if you don’t know our older members, of our church, you are so missing out they are awesome!

I know for myself I have been so encouraged by them over the years and it has been a privilege to get to know them better over the last few.

Just like its tough being a teenager it’s also tough getting older as well (Just check out the end of Ecclesiastes)

Please pray for them to be filled with the Holy spirit to be given patience and endurance as they face the trial and challenge of getting older and doing so in a way the glorifies God.

Please also pray for the people (There are lots of them) who are facing the challenge of caring for elderly family. This is often a difficult and lonely time for them, so they need lots and lots of prayer, often a shoulder to cry on and friendship and encouragement.

Please also pray for the people who work in the career of caring for the elderly. They do an underappreciated incredible job for little credit.

We also want to see salvation for the elderly and if they don’t know Jesus, we want them to come to know Jesus as Lord and saviour of their life! It is never to late and they are just a important in Gods eyes.

We have been presented, as a church, with a few invitations to share the Gospel in sheltered accommodations and care home and I would love to put a team together for this if anyone is interested come and see me!!!

Finally, a challenge to young’uns!! Jesus says do unto others as you would like done to you.
If you’re able why don’t you pick the phone and call or text some of the older members of our congregation or better still pop in. I know they will be blessed and I’m 100% sure you will be as well 😊

Helpful Bible Verses

Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Leviticus 19:32
Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD.

1 Timothy 5:8
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,  who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Ecclesiastes 12:1-7
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim; when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then people go to their eternal home and mourners go about the streets. Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
